Northern train at Liverpool Lime Street

Northern Trains

Northern Rail were the first train operating company to deploy Water-Trak in passenger service. In Autumn 2021, two Class 319 trains (319368 and 319379) were fitted with Water-Trak and operated successfully throughout the leaf-fall season. Following this success, Northern are now fitting their Class 170 fleet with the Water-Trak system. The first two trains were operational for Autumn 2022 and full fleet fitment will be complete in time for Autumn 2023.

Porterbrook’s HydroFlex train

Porterbrook

Porterbrook were a key partner in supporting the early development of the Water-Trak system by fitting it to their experimental HydroFlex train. Following this successful pilot, they were the first rolling stock company to support the fitment of the Water-Trak system to passenger service trains - two Northern Class 319s. The Northern Class 170 fleet currently being fitted is also leased from Porterbrook.

Dg8 Design and Engineering

DG8 has been an important partner in the design and development of the Water-Trak system - starting with the first design for the HydroFlex train back in 2019, followed by designs for the Class 319 (2020 & 2021) and more recently the Class 170 (2021, 2022). In 2023, DG8 will be helping us to extend the range of train classes supported by Water-Trak and to further improve the design while driving down costs.

AEGIS Engineering & Certification Services

AEGIS Engineering and AEGIS Certification services have helped us navigate the complicated (or what appears complicated to a start-up company like Water-Trak) world of railway industry approvals. Following the principles of RIS-2700-RST, AEGIS Certification provided design and construction attestations at each stage of the development. AEGIS Engineering facilitated a number of HAZID sessions and helped Water-Trak develop its own Safety Plan to deal with the resulting safety requirements.
